During this holiday period we all want to hear wonderful news. Last year we all worked very hard. Now is a good time to take a look back and review our accomplishments. We achieved a lot, yet many children still need our help and compassion.
I’d like to share news of the most important and improbable victories of our protegees.
The most amazing news from last year is about Makar Volobuyev. After a number of surgeries and chemotherapies, our young hero managed to overcome cancer!
Resilient Kolya Bayborodin has always stood out from the rest. Last year he continued to amaze us with his wonderful body. He received three different diagnoses, and he was our most debated patient. Whenever his doctors met, they could never agree about what exactly is wrong with Kolya. Our biggest victory is that Kolya was successfully operated. The tumor from his orbit and maxillary sinus was removed. The surgery was performed by some of the best doctors in our city.
An equally important event took place in the life of Misha Syagaluk. We have lovingly come to call him “pilot” because we met him at the time when he urgently had to fly to Kyiv but could not do so. Thankfully, everything worked out well back then and Misha overcame all obstacles. In December of last year, Misha took another medical trip. Thanks to our own “magicians” Yura and Marina, our little hero is currently receiving full-fledged treatment which is available only in Germany.
Kirill Kulinich is another incredible fighter. The boy endured a difficult and rare surgery in Kyiv, during which doctors implanted a neuro stimulator in his leg. Since then Kirill has gotten feeling back in his leg and is now able to step on it and lift it. Kirill celebrated New Year at home! He is now learning to walk again.
Wonderful Nika Badlo finally has enough funds for the long awaited kidney transplant! The surgery is scheduled for January.
Polina Kolesnichenko is at a specialized clinic in India and is awaiting a double heart and lungs transplant! We are praying that a donor can be found soon.
Eva Mamotenko – has managed to overcome the difficulties which were put in her way. With your help, she has successfully completed rehabilitation and is now living a normal life of an active child!
All our cystic fibrosis patients survived last year – this is the most important of our victories! Not only that, they have put together a flash mob of appreciation! Every single one of them is alive thanks to you! Our most difficult cases deserve special mention: Dasha Mochernuk, Margarita Shkurenkova, Lena Savran, Vlad Bogomazov, Artem and Dima Semenikhin, Kirill and Artem Karpachov. Thanks to you all of them managed to go through a full treatment course at the hospital. And – thanks to intensive antibiotic therapy – most of them will be able to forget about the hospital for three months. That’s really amazing!
